A Fresh Start
-- by Bonnie J. Duckworth Copyright 1996 -- bonniej@gte.net

Just a new car, furniture, house an more, but without any bills.
Impatient, I charged and now have all and bills that give me chills.

I was happy when all these things were new, at least for a few days.
When the bills poured in I told myself, let me count the ways.

I figured and figured and figured some more, the cost was misery.
The things I wanted now cost me my time, more jobs and energy.

Before I had all these bills to pay, I had time for my family and friends.
But now my energy is running low, so much work, is that how it ends?

What's left after you've done all there is to do, excluding God in your plans?
A certain dread of what's to come, creditors threatening demands!

I know I have to make a fresh start. I vowed to charge no more.
Be satisfied with what you have and when needs arise God opens the door.

Don't worry, be happy, and be grateful for each new day.
Things may not always smell like roses, but you'll have no bills to pay.

You can have contentment, peace, joy and love, God's promises are assured.
There's no greater gift on this earth to compare, to think otherwise is absurd.
