The Stranger
-- by Bernard Gluck Copyright 1998 -- bgluck@earthlink.net

I'm settin' thar a-rockin' out in front of Gen'ral Store
The dog was sleepin' down thar by my feet.
The reason I were settin' thar, my feet were feelin' sore.
A stranger to our town drove down the street.

He saw I were a-settin' thar and thought to stop a while
'Twere obvious the man had lost his way.
A scowl he wore upon his face and wouldn't even smile
Or even stop to pass the time of day.

"Somethin' I just gotta know is, does your doggie bite?"
He asked before he'd open up his door.
"No" I answered him right back and then he did alight.
The dog woke up and knocked him to the floor.

"You lied to me, you darn old fool, you said your dog don't bite!"
"I didn't lie at all to you now cuz,
So don't ya get yer dander up and startin' up a fight!
I said, "MY dog don't bite", but THIS ONE DOES!
