The Last Rays of Sunlight
-- by William G. Lyon -- Copyright 1997 -- lyon0013@inquo.net

The "Last Rays of Sunlight" make the long shadow fall,
Just Like the Pig in it's Pen, or the Cow in It's Stall.
The Sheep In the Meadow, a long shadow does make,
Like the lone Candle mounted on a Child's Birthday cake.

When from down the street came, two cars and a Wagon,
All three put together, they looked just like a long Dragon.
The Shadow things make, with the " Last Rays of Sunlight",
Will sure Boggle Your Mind, and make you sit up and fight.

When a child looks almost as tall as his father and mother,
And sometimes much bigger than his own baby brother.
It's just those "Last Rays of Sunlight" that really confuse,
The heighth of the thing, that in contrast, shall amuse.
