Winter Sunrise
-- by Vance Oliphant - Copyright 2000 -- vanlorol@webtv.net

The winter sunrise was a spectacular sight,
As it signaled the end of a long winter's night.

Infinite color lit the eastern sky,
As if an artist was painting to please the eye.

Red, pink and orange set the sky ablaze,
As the sun rose higher in pre-dawn haze.

A cloud was frame with brightest gold;
Steam rose from chimneys in the morning cold.

Then, like a show that had been pre- arranged,
The sky grew brighter and the colors changed.

One last flash of light and then it was gone.
The Lord had proclaimed another dawn !
