In Touch With The Past
-- by Melba William Wallace -- Copyright 1997 -- meljoy@brightok.net

Family reunions generate
A renewal of kindred pride,
As the young listen and learn
Of kith and kin who have died.

Scrapbooks that tell a story,
Old pictures that make images last,
These are the remarkable momentoes
That keep us in touch with the past.

Diaries and letters of old,
Newspaper clippings so vast,
All contribute to history
Keeping us in touch with the past.

We remember our departed loved ones
Who hold our memories so fast,
And hope that by mingling together
We can keep in touch with the past.

Who knows what the future holds
And in what role we may be cast?
As yet we meet once again
Keeping in touch with the past.
