Time!
-- by Don Mulford - Copyright 1999 -- steldon@nbnet.nb.ca

I'm sure you've sat and watched the clock!
That second hand keeps sweeping 'round,
Tick-ticking on to who knows where,
Each tick an unrelenting sound.

How many ticks will make a day?
And just how many days remain?
Can we do all we want to do,
When time treats us with such disdain?

A wiser man than I once said
That time and tide wait for no-one,
So what will be my epitaph
When my life's myriad ticks are done?

I pray my life's not been a waste,
And maybe you should think of this;
Whilst watching time's remorseless trip,
Can you tell me what time it is?

Youth is a state of the soul -
Nothing to do with age, but everything to do with attitude.
