Look To The Sky
-- by Bob Busch -- Copyright 1997 -- pathwest@cornernet.com
Look to the sky
to the mountains then the sea
think on each and why they are
And consider how they stay
so that they are not hurt or maimed
or forgotten
See that heather?
when its place is taken away
it has no other
The solitary snag is right but
with no care the forest becomes snags
- in excess they have no grace
The eagle soars so can be seen
but if many come at once to see
it is gone without a trace
or reason
to scan earth's face -
unless it learns to devour men
Trout in the quick brook
hunt the mayfly best
but it too is gone
should it prey on
man's poisoned pests
The problem is not that there is no end
to the blight
The problem is
the end is in sight
