Just down the road...around the bend,
The automobile and the hard surface
road,
There was a grocery store....maybe two at
one time,
An implement dealer and an auto garage .....
The grain elevator was open; waiting for
grain to unload.
Soda fountain, clothing store, a cafe or
two,
The theater with a Saturday matinee;
A bank, a shoestore, a place to play ball
There was a fall festival with the usual
parade,
The trains used to stop and passengers
alight,
Saturday nights the farmers came to town.
Shopping malls are okay for those on the
run,
Most small town activity has now come to
a end,
