Vital Organs (A.K.A.) The Brain And The Heart
-- by William Tossi - Copyright 1999 -- wtozzi@ix.netcom.com

As you can see, the brain and the heart
are a very short distance apart.
But at any time of the night or the day,
from each other, the two can seem miles away.

When they work together, they make a great team.
They are good neighbors, that's how it may seem.
But when there's a conflict, up goes a fence.
The heart won't be bothered with logic and sense.

Sometimes, conditions are not what you think,
the brain and the heart are not quite in sync.
The heart will say yes, the brain will say no.
So, which of the two are you supposed to follow?

Think with your heart, or think with your brain,
whatever you do, causes the other pain.
Heartache or headache which one shall it be?
There seems to be only one choice for me.

The choice is the headache on any day.
Ibuprofen or aspirin makes it go away.
But a heartache, I fear, is here to stay
and can last forever and a day.

I was a fool, I thought I was smart.
I didn't let myself listen to my heart.
My brain did the thinking, logic all along.
I had all I needed, yet something was wrong.

Your brain tells you one thing, "that's not what to do."
Your heart tells you different, "it's a dream come true."
Could this be the end or is it a new start?
Take my advice and follow your heart.
