The Bird Watcher
-- by Bernard Gluck Copyright 1998 -- bgluck@earthlink.net

Hooray for Ray! Why just yesterday
He added a bird to his list.
He hadn't gone far to the nearest bar,
A habit he cannot resist.

There in the dim light they had on last night,
I know this might sound quite absurd,
From Ray's very table he found he was able
To identify this very bird.

He had his bird book so he took a look
To see if this species was covered
Confirming his find to settle his mind
Regarding this kind he discovered.

He jumped up with glee and thought he might be
The first in his old neighborhood
Now maybe his name will bring him some fame
He thought that would really be good.

(The bird: A red-eyed titwatcher)
