Wealth

My bank account is slender,
I’ve no cash that I can spare,
I have never been a spender,
But what little’s mine, I’ll share.
I don’t own a shiny auto
And my home’s a rented shack,
But it’s always warm with welcome
And of friendship there’s no lack.
I don’t count my wealth in silver!
Silver has no lasting worth.
Other things hold far more value,
The most precious things on earth.
And I’m happy, I’m contented,
I’ve no fear of growing old,
For the things I value most in life
Are worth much more than gold.
My children are my riches,
They’re an endless source of wealth,
And they’ve given me grandchildren,
All bright-eyed with radiant health.
So although I don’t have money,
They’re my legacy to man.
To the coming generations
In this life’s unending plan.
