A Widow's Dream
-- by Reynolda (Strawn) Clegg - Copyright 1999 -- l.b.strawn@juno.com

Last night he came again
And took my hand
And we walked once more in memories lane,
My love and I,
And, oh, the joys we lived again,
And laughed again,
And wept again---
In days gone by.

But when we came to morning's gate,
As sun arose,
And one by one each bright star
Faded from the sky,
He kissed me gently---he could not stay.
He slipped his hand from mine,
(I found my pillow damp with tears)
We said...........goodbye.
