I'm A Winner

This a poem written the day after a trip to Lake Tahoe with my daughter Stephanie

"Daddy!! Daddy!! Show Me How to Play"
Play??? Ix-nay Child!! Better Save Your Dough
Once You Play, You'll Be Here to Stay
And Then the Urge, Will Never Go Away

Craps, Is a Game, That Will Never Let You Go
So, Ix-nay Steph, "You Have How Much Dough???"
Ten, Will it Give Me Enough to Start?
Maybe, If You Play, and If You Play Smart

"Change, Dealer, and Make it All Bucks"
Here You Go Gal, and Lots of Good Lucks
Turn Sideways Gal, and Stand There So Slender
I've Finally Seen the Last of the Big Spenders

Down with Your Bets, Cried the Dealer, with a Smile
Put Your Money down Folk's, but Don't Go Hog Wild
One on the Pass Line, I Feel Real Lucky
Isn't this Game Just Real Ducky?

Roll 'Em Shooter!! A Seven or Eleven!!
A Seven or Eleven, Come down from Heaven
"Seven!!" You Win Steph, Pick up Your Dollar
"I Did??" as She Gives a Big Hollar

"Daddy," this Is Fun, Come on Seven or Eleven
Baby Needs Shoes!! Come down from Heaven
What Do I Need Dad?? Oh!! This Is Heaven!!!
Mostly Luck and Another Seven

Seven!! Do I Win Dad? Do I Win??
Yes You Did Steph, So Give Another Hollar
A Seven Was Made, So Pick up Your Dollar
Can I Bet a Little More? In this Game So Sublume

Sure, Bet Five, Maybe It's Your Time
Five on the Pass Line She Shouts as She Claps"
Roll 'Em!!! Snake Eyes!! The Dealer Shouts "Craps!!"
"Craps!!" Is That Good or Is That Bad??
You Lose Steph, but Don't Let it Make You Sad

You Still Have Eight and and There Is Still Time
So Put Another Five in this Game Sublime
New Shooter Folks, Little Girl Coming out
Who Me!! Heavens!! As She Gives a Big Shout

She Picks up the Dice and Throws Toward the End
"Craps!!" Shouts the Dealer "Roll 'Em Again"
This Time, One, on the Pass Line And, One, on The" Yeo"
You're Learning Gal, but You Better Go Slow

She Picks up the Dice, and Thinks "This Is Heaven"
Throws Them on out and Comes a Five and a Six, "Eleven!!!"
Pay the Little Gal, Fifteen to One, Don't You Feel Good?
I'm Winning Dad as I Knew I Would

Another Seven and Two More Elevens
I'm Rolling in Dough, as Steph Shouts."Oh Heavens!!"
Time to Go Home, Dad, and Feeling like a Sinner
Smiling and Shouting "I'm a Winner!!!"
