Winter
-- by Vance Oliphant - Copyright 1999 -- vanlorol@webtv.net

Just down the road......around the bend,
Mother Nature has a message to send.

We can't get complacent, because we know,
At any time now, it can begin to snow.

That first snow is great....a beautiful sight;
So nice to walk in, on a still winter night.

Those big white white flakes float gently to the ground,
And soon not a blade of grass can be found.

But, after awhile the real snowstorms will come,
And even those will be welcomed by some.

Snowboarders and skiers will be happy as larks,
And snowmobiles will be heard in the parks.

"Snow days" at school must be made up in the spring;
Kids don't care about that....a day off is the thing.

Strong winds from the north will drift the snow,
Covering everything down below.
But we can't get discouraged....winter will come to an end
Just down the road....around the bend.
