A Word About a Word
-- by Bernard Gluck -- Copyright 1997 -- bgluck@earthlink.net

The origin of words I see
Has always fascinated me
Now here is one we all do know
It's SABOTAGE I choose to show.

A wooden shoe in French, you know,
Is just a simple word SA- BO (sabot)
A bunch of workers were real mad
About conditions that they had

So they decided on that day
Their anger to express this way:
They tossed their shoes into the works
To show their bosses they were jerks.

That word, it's meaning ...TO DESTROY..
Is now the one that we employ.

(Interesting, isn't it?) bgluck@earthlink.net
