Christmas

Now let me see,
Where did I put the Christmas tree?
I hope we have decorations and all that stuff
Also, I sure hope we have enough.

Grandmother scurries here and there,
Until I'm ready to pull my hair.
I hear, "I got this, and I got that,
And I think I need to buy something for Pat."

We dash to town again, and again to fetch more and more
We get so mixed up that we lose score.
"What do you want for Christmas?" I hear them say...
I tell 'em, "Not a thing, that I have Christmas everyday.

Finally, the day arrives... boxes and papers everywhere
Presents are put aside with great care
How in the world did we every get caught up in thie expensive game?
I know that I'm old, redneck, and such, but Christmas just ain't the same.

When it't all over, and the trash is carried away..
I just gotta say, "My cup runneth over each day."
And I hope we never lose sight of the reason
Why we celebrate the season.
