No Longer Young
-- by Chuck Pool - Copyright 1999 -- CPool71148@aol.com

No longer young
And past my prime
There's much I've lost
To Father Time

From the mirror
When I look
I see the youth
From me he took

I am dismayed
By what I see
Since I am now
A used to be

A wrinkled face
A hairless head
And a body with
A middle aged spread

I can't remember
Things long past
And sometimes those
Five minutes last

Yet all my parts
Are working still
But do so now
With fading skill

Legs that once
Could run so fast
Now to walk
Can barely last

I cannot do
So many things
I must accept
What old age brings

I can't go back
Where once I've been
I must concede
I must give in

No longer young
And past my prime
I cannot fight

Old Father Time
